Those whiny folks up at Lake Norman are at it again. We gave them their first public beach in forty years, and what do they do? Whine.
Charlotte’s leadership prides itself on being a progressive city. They spend Lake Norman’s tax dollars. The town has its own Green Party chapter. They hold an annual Pride parade, and everybody knows that’s what drives America’s economy these days.
All that forward thinking explains why they picked a mass transit solution straight out of the 19th Century. I’m talking, of course, about the streetcar. The last streetcar to creak down Charlotte’s streets went to the Big Roundhouse in the Sky before the Great Depression ended. This new, shiny one looks like it’s straight out of a Vivien Leigh movie.
